	iPrism: More Than a Network Device or Software, Combined. iPrism is an Internet monitoring software appliance... It is a separate piece of hardware installed onsite. With integrated Internet monitoring software and databases, iPrism is more than hardware or software filtering alone. iPrism provides a dedicated resource for Internet monitoring with simple network integration. iPrism also has the flexibility and configurability of Internet monitoring software while having a centralized way to manage configuration and to filter traffic, without having to purchase separate servers or support software to get enterprise-level filtering. Hardware-based Internet monitoring has an advantage in working well in multi-platform network environments and with multiple servers because hardware Internet filtering usually involves reconfiguring the firewall to block IP addresses. However, hardware solutions lack flexibility and fine-grained control over how to block sites because entire IPs or domains are blocked without any differentiation between individual sites on those IP addresses. Internet monitoring software grants more control over filtering because it takes a content-aware approach, usually by using keywords to identify sites. Internet monitoring software can also be configured to allow different filters for groups of people. There are two major disadvantages to Internet monitoring software. First, Internet monitoring software can be difficult to implement in mixed environments, on wide-area networks, or on multiple desktops because software control is local, not centralized.
